Did you know that Brazil Nuts contain selenium?
Selenium helps to form antioxidants in the body to fight radicals which damage cells, leading to aging.
Brazil nuts hold a very high level of selenium, which protects the cells from damage by neutralizing free radicals.
- Brazil nuts are high in fat, but much of this fat content is monounsaturated fat that helps lower cholesterol.
- The nuts are also a great source of Vitamin E which is necessary for the integrity of mucosa and skin by protecting it from free radicals.
- Brazil nuts hold a very high level of selenium. Just 1-2 nuts per day enough of this trace element to help prevent coronary artery disease, liver disease and cancers.
- Also Brazil nuts are an excellent source of the B-complex group (research). In addition, they hold good levels of copper, magnesium, manganese, potassium, iron, phosphorous and zinc. All good minerals for the health of the body and the skin.
- Last but not least, selenium protects the cells from damage, by neutralising free radicals and other skin-damaging compounds before they can lead to wrinkles. It is similar to Vit E and actually works with the vitamin to safeguard cell membranes, the protective coating around the cells.
I pop a handful (4-5) a day into my morning smoothie, along with some berries, banana, baby spinach, my Arbonne Greens Balance which promotes good bacteria in the gut, and almond & coconut milk. Great way to start your morning!
If you are allergic to nuts or don’t like them I would recommend a Selenium supplement. I can highly recommend this product from Aussie Health Products.
